Can charisma be trained? The Lausanne experiment

Charisma is often seen as innate. A University of Lausanne team tested the opposite.
The research
John Antonakis, Marika Fenley and Sue Liechti (2011, Academy of Management Learning & Education) show managers trained in charismatic leadership tactics are subsequently rated more charismatic by observers.
The limit
Effects concern observer perceptions on modest samples; team performance is not measured directly. (our executive and employee training programmes)

Practical check in Lausanne
Rewrite your next strategy talk with a metaphor, a contrast and an explicit expectation; ask five listeners to summarise it in one sentence and compare convergence.
